I had the privilege of kicking off the leadership development journey for the newest intake of iGems students — future engineers with big dreams and unstoppable determination. Despite the challenges of under-resourced schools and difficult circumstances, these young minds showed up with eagerness, resilience, and a deep desire to grow.  

Through our session, they uncovered hidden strengths, clarified their aspirations, and recognised the power of assertive communication. Their insights were profound, yet their voices were often hesitant. Encouraging them to speak up with confidence was just as important as helping them see their potential.  

It was an inspiring reminder: leadership isn’t just about knowledge; it’s about owning your story, believing in your abilities, and making yourself heard. I’m grateful to be part of this journey with iGems.
